	Oxfordshire Gangshow

What is the Gangshow?
Gangshows began in 1932 but were an all-male preserve until 1968 - the year after girls were first admitted to the Venture Scouts - when girls were allowed to take part in the dance team. This was later extended! For the last 29 years, members of the Scout Association and GirlGuiding in Oxfordshire have put on a fully integrated Gangshow at the New Theatre in Oxford.

The show provides the cast with the opportunity to learn & develop theatre skills with the reward of performing on one of the largest professional stages in the UK. The show is packed full of fun, laughter & excitement and is suitable for all the family.

Senior Gang Auditions (11+ years*)
Sunday 13th September 2009

* Senior Gang Audtions are open to those born on or before 7th March 1999 Uniform is to be worn to the audition.

Junior Gang Auditions (8 to 12 years**)
Saturday 31st October 2009
10th Oxford Scout HQ, William St, off Marston Road, Oxford

13.00hrs – Scouts, Guides, Cubs & Brownies

** Junior Gang Auditions are open to those born on or between 14th March 1997 and 7th March 2002

NB - Uniform must be worn to auditions.

Commitment to being in the Cast
If you are successful at your audition then the commitment you need to make needs to be strong, below is what is expected of you.

Senior Gang Rehearsals
Mondays 7pm - 9pm until show week, plus most Sunday afternoons from Jan to show week. If you want to be a member of the dance team and are chosen to join the team then this adds Sunday mornings 10-12:30(ish) from October. The first Senior Gang Monday rehearsal will be Monday 14th September 2009.

Junior Gang Rehearsals
Saturdays 2pm - 4:30pm from November until March. The first Junior Gang rehearsal will be Saturday 7th November 2009.

On the Crest of a wave

The show's format was introduced by Ralph Reader, the first Gang Show producer, who went on to write many sketches and songs for Gang Shows including the signature tune On the Crest of a Wave. The Oxfordshire Gangshow always finishes with this number and members of the audience who have taken part in previous shows always enthusiastically join in!
